Dear Friend,
I hope you are enjoying this first beautiful month of summer. In this month's newsletter we highlight a little-known but very powerful ancient Asian text called the Chun Bu Kyung. The wisdom of this text is very special. I hope you enjoy studying it as much as I have.

Ancient Wisdom through Modern Exercises Some of the many exercises and philosophies you can find in BEST Life Media products are based on the wisdom of an ancient Asian text called the Chun Bu Kyung. The letter "Chun" of Chung Bu Kyung refers to Heaven; the letter "Bu" means to give, symbolize, fit, or comply with; and the letter "Kyung" means a book or the way. Putting them together, Chun Bu Kyung means "Sacred Text of Heaven," or "Sacred Words of the Principle of Heaven." The Chun Bu Kyung originated in ancient Korea and dates back at least 9,000 years.
After going through the process of his own awakening, Ilchi Lee discovered the Chun Bu Kyung and saw that it contained the truth he had himself discovered. He realized that the meaning of the Chun Bu Kyung cannot fully be understood at the level of mere knowledge. It needs to be delivered to our body and consciousness through the energy contained within each of the 81 letters. According to Asian tradition, the source of all life is ki energy, which exists as light, sound, and vibration. When you can feel ki energy in your body, then you will be able to sense intuitively the meaning of each letter.
To help others experience the principles of the Chun Bu Kyung, Ilchi Lee began teaching ki energy exercises. Over time he refined these exercises into what are now Dahn Yoga and Brain Education.
One set of ki gong exercises that portrays the energy of each character of the Chun Bu Kyung is known as Chun Bu Shin Gong. To get a better sense of the Chun Bu Kyung, click on the picture below and watch the video of Chun Bu Shin Gong being performed with a relaxed body and mind.

Reign in Your Temper: Strengthen Your Spleen Meridian
According to the tenets of Asian Medicine, each meridian channel of the body is associated with physical, emotional, and mental characteristics.
The Spleen Meridian is responsible for the function of the spleen and is also closely related to the function of the pancreas. It is also associated with anger, focused and clear thinking, and traits of honesty, trust, and acceptance.
When the spleen is weakened, the body's ability to control fluid is also weakened, resulting in symptoms such as diarrhea and difficulty with urination. The body can also become heavy, and joints can become puffy and swollen. Proper nutrients do not get distributed to the body, inhibiting muscle and weight gain, and as time goes by, energy and motivation can decrease. A weakened spleen can also lead to distracted thoughts and a rise in irritation and anger, whether expressed or not.
One of many methods of strengthening your Spleen Meridian is performing stretches that involve the muscles along the inner legs and trunk of the body. When you do the stretching, go slowly while feeling your body and breath. The Spleen Meridian is most active between 9 and 11 am., making it a good time to perform these exercises.
Here are a couple of exercises for the Spleen Meridian you can try if you feel it needs strengthening:
Upper Body Twist: 1. Lie on your stomach with your arms stretched out at shoulder level. 2. Place your left arm above your head, making it touch your left ear. 3. Inhale. Raise your right arm. Slowly turn your upper body up and over to the right side while extending your right arm at shoulder level to touch the floor on the opposite side with the right palm facing up. Keep your legs still and relax your neck and shoulders. Exhale and slowly return to the starting position. 4. Repeat on the other side.
Torso Twist: 1. Kneel on the floor and strengthen your spine. Place your palms on the floor, pressing against it. 2. Turn your torso and neck slowly to the right. Hold the stretch for a few moments. 3. Repeat on the other side. 4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 four times.
