Dahn Yoga for Multiple Sclerosis and Similar Conditions DVD

Even one person's passion can make a difference.

Cathy Downie, a Dahn Yoga Center member, learned to manage her Multiple Sclerosis (MS) symptoms through her practice. She appreciated how she felt so much that she began to teach Dahn Yoga to other people living with MS. To reach as many people with limited mobility as she could, Cathy has worked with the MS Society, the MS Foundation, and the Dahn Foundation.

Her dedication and success led to the development of the Dahn Yoga for Multiple Sclerosis and Similar Conditions DVD. From this video, even those who cannot attend a Dahn Yoga class can learn how to manage their pain and stress and increase their focus. The exercises can help anyone who has limited mobility develop more strength and flexibility.

Shrimp dish Health Tip:
Cooking with Green Tea

Green tea is not only a delicious beverage, it's also a wonderful cooking ingredient. It can be a marinade, a tenderizer, or even a condiment.

Green tea also has many health benefits. As an antioxidant it inhibits fat and cholesterol absorption, lowers levels of "bad" (LDL) cholesterol while raising "good" (HDL) cholesterol, suppresses thrombosis, lowers blood sugar, and prevents rheumatoid arthritis and depression of immune function. Gargling with it can even suppress bacterial activity and plaque formation, and eliminate bad breath.

All you have to do to enhance a variety of dishes with green tea is to add dried green tea leaves, tea powder, or tea water. Here are some simple recipes you can try:

Meat Dishes: Sprinkle in crushed green tea leaves while stir-frying beef, beef steak, or fried chicken. Or you can add tea water when marinating meat. The meat will become tender and lose any unpleasant smell, and your body will excrete fat more easily.

With Fresh Cream, Yogurt, and Salad: Lightly sprinkle crushed green tea leaves or tea powder on fresh cream, plain yogurt, or salad. Or try this yogurt mixture: Mix one teaspoon of crushed green tea leaves and 2 teaspoons of honey (to taste) into 16 ounces of plain yogurt. Let it sit for about two minutes.

Shimp Dishes: After seeping loose-leaf green tea, collect the leaves floating in the tea and then use them as a bed in your steamer when steaming shrimp. Or you can enjoy a lighter dish when frying shrimp by adding green tea powder to the breading.

Green Tea Sparkler: Mix green tea water, apple juice, cranberry juice, papaya nectar, apricot nectar, or any juice or nectar, and then add ice and sparkling water in a 1:1:1 ratio. You can increase the ratio of green tea according to your preference.

"A Stroke of Insight" by Jill Bolte Taylor Ilchi Lee's Author Blog
A Neuroscientist's Journey

Recently I had the opportunity to meet Jill Bolte-Taylor, author of the book My Stroke of Insight. A neuroanatomist from the Indiana University School of Medicine, she suffered a massive stroke at the age of 37. It completely disabled her left hemisphere, taking away her language and analytical abilities. [...] Her story is fascinating to me because it illustrates the importance of using both halves of the brain.
