Health Tip: Beat the Summer Heat
Keep cool and healthy over this last month of summer with these simple tips:

Go for a dip. Whether you're a serious swimmer or justChildren Swimming love splashing around, the water is a great place to connect with your body and cool it from the summer heat. While you're in the water, relax your body and trust the water to support you. Focus on your lower abdomen and feel the water on your skin. Savor what your body feels like in the water, studying each part of it without the weight of gravity. Pretend that the coincident resistance and freedom you feel in the water is a huge energy field embracing and cooling you.

Drink water. Just as water outside of your body can keep you cool, adding water inside your body is just as important, especially when you perspire. Adequate hydration is essential for energizing the body, bringing clarity to your eyes, keeping your skin supple, eliminating toxins, and helping your body regulate its temperature. Room-temperature water is always the best choice for quenching your thirst and keeping yourself hydrated. Water or other liquids that are too cold force your body to generate heat to recover its normal temperature, although they feel cooling in the short-term.
 Orange juice
Cool down with juice. Another option besides water that satisfies your tastebuds without causing negative side-effects is drinking all-natural vegetable and/or fruit juices.

Eat cooling foods. In Chinese Five Element Theory, sunny summer is equated with the element Fire, a yang element. Balancing this abundance of yang with yin foods will help keep you from overheating. Eat foods that are lighter such as more raw foods, more fruits, coconut, and green tea. Reduce the amount of warming foods you consume such as spicy foods, stews, alcohol, coffee, and meat. Tomatoes, watermelon, and other melons are in season in August and pack the most yin. Avoid or limit refined sugar. To help curb sugar cravings, start your day with sour tasting foods. Use lemon, lime, and/or mint on foods or in drinks.
Ilchi Lee's Brain Art Festival a Success!
Brain Art Festival Drummer The Brain Art Festival last Saturday at Radio City Music Hall was a success with over 4,000 tickets sold and stunning performances by drummer Robin Dimaggio, opera singer Naoko Noma, the Earth Star Kids Drum Team, the God's Generation Harlem choir, and the Dahn-goon B-Boyz hip hop dancers. The Power Brain Student Leaders from New York Area schools and the Power Brain Center in Bayside, NY shined as they sang "My Brain Is So Amazing" and recited the Brain Declaration.

Ilchi Lee took the audience through the core philosophical principles of Brain Education and had the audience rocking in a new Brain Wave Vibration movement. His multimedia lecture culminated in the idea that we are all valuable, successful souls who are from the Earth before we are from a particular nation, culture, race, or religion. Or as he put it, we are all Earth Citizens.
