Classroom management is an ongoing challenge for teachers, who strive to keep students engaged and help them fulfill their academic potential. Best Life Media’s new book, out on December 1, 2016, describes a new way to manage classrooms. The Brain Power Classroom: 10 Essentials for Focus, Mindfulness, and Emotional Wellness by Dave Beal guides teachers on how to turn their classroom into a Brain Power Classroom&;mdash;”a harmonious, collaborative learning environment co-created by healthy, happy, and engaged students along with their teachers; an environment that utilizes authentic academic rigor, character development, and social-emotional wellness as the foundation for helping members of the class draw out their innate brilliance and cultivate their brightest life purpose.”

Brain Power Classroom by Dave BealThe practical tips and mind-body exercises detailed in the book come from the Brain Education method developed by Ilchi Lee and implemented in about 400 U.S. schools by Brain Power Wellness. The author shares his own experiences incorporating Brain Education into his Brooklyn, New York elementary school classroom and explains how any teacher can bring the games and exercises into their current curriculum. Dave shows how his classroom went from a place of conflict and stress to one of confidence, positivity, and hope. Students improved their relationships with each other and with the teacher, believed in themselves, and enjoyed coming to school.

Part 1 of the book also gives scientific background, principles, and insightful advice for creating an optimal classroom atmosphere. Part 2 features thirty classroom activities with step-by-step instructions and images that are divided into ten essential elements for having a Brain Power Classroom. They incorporate movement, mindfulness, breathing, imagination, and interpersonal interaction to develop students’ multiple intelligences.

With the publication of his first book, Dave hopes to get closer to fulfilling his dream of making every classroom a Brain Power Classroom that promotes health, happiness, peace, and optimal achievement for both students and staff.
